What a great time of year to talk about my favorite company value, FUN!!!  As we find our way though the holiday season and all the fun events that we have planned such as Breakfast with Santa and our Employee Holiday Party, it’s easy to think about fun at work. But what about the other 11 months of the year?

When many consider their normal workday, fun does not seem to be part of the regular plan. The number of hours that we spend at work versus doing other activities is significant. So, finding fun at work can help improve our life. It is a proven fact that those who smile feel better and frankly are physically better because a positive outlook on life has an overwhelmingly positive impact on our well-being… when we feel good, we are good. This is why Thomas E. Strauss, Inc. holds fun as an important value.

While having fun at work is important, we need to think about what is considered fun for the whole team, especially knowing we have so many nationalities and cultures on our team. So, keep in mind the simple rule that we speak about regularly – treating everyone with dignity and respect. What does this mean?  Think of the Golden Rule which states “treat others as one would want to be treated by them”. Be sure NOT to make it personal or about others close to someone. Avoid off-color jokes or making fun of a specific team member. 

When we celebrate each others differences and engage as a team, we 

are able to have real fun at work.
